WHAT LED YOU TO THIS CAREER?
I have always had an interest in the built environment and all of my jobs after college have in one way or another been connected to real estate.
AFTER 20 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS, WHAT KEEPS YOU IN THE INDUSTRY?
You don’t get bored. Every deal is a puzzle to be solved. You end up learning about so many different industries and what makes them tick and how that relates to their real estate needs.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE CONSIDERING COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE AS A CAREER?
Are you comfortable with the unknown and confident in your skillset? This is not a job for a person looking for predictability. You can and should have good support like ROCK provides to their Advisors, but they can only support you and what you are willing and capable of doing.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING AT ROCK?
Learning new things every day which over time accumulate to make you more effective at the job.
WHAT BEHAVIOR OR PERSONALITY TRAIT DO YOU MOST ATTRIBUTE YOUR SUCCESS?
I approach sales from a relationship perspective. I need to earn the right to be listened to and for me that is getting to understand where the other person is coming from and then finding a solution that meets their needs.
WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF PROFESSIONAL ADVICE YOU HAVE RECEIVED?
Do everything with integrity and don’t worry about the “deal”. If you focus on the client, in the end, you will do well in this business.
WHO HAS INFLUENCED YOU THE MOST WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR CAREER?
A professor in college who taught psychology-based management by taking us out of our bubble and forcing us to realize that everyone isn’t, and shouldn’t, be just like me.
