Scott Stare and his official ice cream/deer jerky taste tester, Smokey (plus a subtle nod to the Baltimore Ravens)
ROCK Employee Spotlight: Scott Stare, Accountant
WHAT LED YOU TO THIS CAREER? I worked for a CPA firm for two years and then several non-profit agencies prior to ROCK. I heard through a contact that ROCK was looking for someone to do property management accounting and it sounded like a good fit.
WHAT IS THE MOST SATISFYING ASPECT OF YOUR JOB? When you can provide the needed information to owners, property managers, advisors, etc. so they can complete the items they need the information for (lease, financing, OE, etc.).
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE CONSIDERING ACCOUNTING AS A CAREER? If you like details and numbers (especially having them in balance), this could be for you.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING AT ROCK? Our employees, working together as a team to help our clients achieve their goals.
WHAT BEHAVIOR OR PERSONALITY TRAIT DO YOU MOST ATTRIBUTE YOUR SUCCESS? Being detail oriented (it drives some people nuts).
WHO HAS INFLUENCED YOU MOST WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR CAREER? I have taken many things from different people throughout my life that have influenced my career. My high school accounting teacher drove the basics of accounting into me and my two years at a CPA firm prepared me for working in the real world.
WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF PROFESSIONAL ADVICE YOU HAVE RECEIVED? The key is to at least sound like you know what you are talking about.
TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT WOULD SURPRISE US? I make homemade ice cream and deer jerky, just not both at the same time. My dog, Smokey, is my official taste tester. He always says he needs more samples to taste.
