York City Redevelopment Has Wide
Reach - By Michael J. Katz

Northwest Triangle. Each project
is different and each is at a different phase. One is built, one is going
to be built, and one is in progress. Most important is what these projects
have in common . . . urban redevelopment. These projects represent
opportunities to experience all that York City has to offer.
There are people who are looking for the
convenience of living, working, and playing in one centralized location.
For example, an individual will be able to purchase or rent unique living
space full of character that only these redevelopment projects can offer.
This living space may be a block or two from the place they work, giving
these individuals the opportunity to easily walk, bike, or drive to work. After work, grabbing something to eat is
simple and there are plenty of options. One could find something to eat that
is quick and inexpensive or sit back, relax, and enjoy a dining experience.
The evening doesn’t have to end after dinner; York City presents
opportunities to catch a baseball game at the
Sovereign Bank Stadium, a show
at the Strand Capital, read a
good book at the Martin
Memorial Library, or go dancing with the
York Swing Dance Club.
Many of us know quite a few people who live in the city. Some have
purchased properties, some rent. Each and every one enjoys the convenience
of living in the City of York. They like being able to walk to the
Central
Market House for breakfast, walk or bike the
Heritage Rail
Trail, go from the
Left Bank to the
Harp & Fiddle for drinks and then simply walk home, and travel from
Flair Fashion’s to Kimman’s to City Art. The point is York City has much to
offer making York the complete place to live.
The affects of redevelopment will spread widely across York City. New
residential projects won’t just increase living opportunities in York City;
it will help the local economy in general and the real estate opportunities
like office and retail. Additionally, each of these items will help the
other; they will feed off of each other. More people living in York City
will help support and increase the need for more jobs in York City; more
jobs in York City will support and increase the need for more retail; more
retail opportunities will support and increase the need for more
residential. You see, it’s a rewarding cycle!

York with road frontage on Linden Avenue, West Gas Avenue, and West
